For the past two years, I have had the remarkable privilege of telling the stories of Chestermere. Putting words to paper of our grief, our celebrations, our struggles and our victories has been an experience that I will not soon forget and will forever cherish.
Calling Chestermere my home since 2002, made writing about what happens here quite easy. Our city is full of amazing people – from the wonderful seniors that are determined to keep the history of Chestermere alive, to the rock star youth that go above and beyond our wildest expectations and the spectacular children that keep us amazed with their big hearts. We are blessed with business owners, not for profit organizations and an army of volunteers that when the call comes not only to step up to help their own, but on a more global reach always ask ‘what can we do?’ Just one of the many things that make me proud to call Chestermere my home.
I have sat and cried with many of you and watched as your hearts broke after the loss of members of our community. I have cheered and applauded with you as we celebrated amazing talents and big wins in our city. I have lost sleep over decisions being made that would change the shape of our community and affect all of our day-to-day operations in our homes and businesses. So many of you have shared extremely personal and emotional stories with me and granted me the extreme honor of telling your stories to our community, stories that I will never forget – and for that, I say thank you.
I have long since known that Chestermere is an amazing place to live. It’s why I live here. It’s why I am raising my children here. It’s why my resigning from the Chestermere Anchor City News is just a change in path, but by no means my swan song to the community that I love so much. My words may not be the ones you read in your weekly paper, but rest assured, I’m not done yet.
So, of all the things that I have asked over the past two years….and believe me there have been more than I can count, I now ask this of you Chestermere – continue to be awesome. Continue to tell yours stories.
Thank you Chestermere!
