CHESTERMERE — It will be a weekend of arts and culture in Chestermere, as Alberta Art Days will be taking over multiple venues around town.

The Government of Alberta is providing funding to many places across the province, so that they may offer family-friendly activities for free. In Chestermere, there will be a variety of workshops and other events to showcase local artists and musicians.

Maps to all of the exciting locations and events can be found at various local businesses around town.

Things will officially kick off this Friday, with the Beatnik Cafe. It will be held at the library from 3:30 to 9 p.m. There will be poetry readings, refreshments and a National Film Board presentation of the documentary “Ladies and Gentlemen…Mr. Leonard Cohen.”
There here will also be a celebration of art and science at the recreation centre beginning at 7 p.m. There will be a show and sale from the Chestermere Fine Arts Guild, and the Evergreen Theatre will perform “Making a Splash.”

This Saturday there will be a variety of dance workshops, including hip hop, salsa, merengue and bachata, belly dance and bhangra dance. The workshops will run from 10 a.m. til 5 p.m. in the MPP room at the recreation centre.
