The Chestermere Fall Country Fair is this weekend! Head to the Chestermere Rec Centre on Saturday, Sept. 17 to get in on the action. Those participating in the Bicycle Decorating Contest are asked to be at Chestermere Lake Middle School by 9:15 on Saturday. Participants must wear helmets. Cash and prizes will go out to the top three in each category (under six, six to eight, and nine to 12.) There will also be prizes for honorable mentions in several categories: Best Group (2 or more), Most Creative Entry, Best Costume, Best Stroller, Funniest Entry, Art on Wheels award, Tires on Fire award, Reuse & Recycle award and lots more.
Just before 11 a.m. on Monday, Strathmore RCMP responded to a head-on collision on Highway 797 near Langdon. Three men, said to be in their 20s, were in the small car that collided with a tractor trailer unit. The car was travelling north on Highway 797 and pulled into the southbound lanes to pass another vehicle when the crash occurred. Two of the car’s occupants were found in critical life-threatening condition and the third in serious condition. The truck driver was not injured. At press time, the RCMP’s investigation was ongoing.
