Just after 8:00 PM last night, September 25th, 2011 the Chestermere RCMP Detachment received calls from the public reporting two or three shots fired in a parking lot for several local businesses.
RCMP members immediately attended the scene and discovered two male individuals, who had suffered physical assault injuries but not gunshot wounds. These two individual were attended by EMS personnel and then transported to hospital via ground ambulance. It is believe that a large number of persons, up to approximately 20) were involved in a physical confrontation at this location.
The scene was secured for a close examination and two shell casings were recovered. Two vehicles, which had been left at the scene were seized and will be examined as well.
RCMP members from Chestermere Detachment are continuing the investigation and are asking for the public’s assistance in ascertaining what occurred at the scene and who was involved. Anyone with information is asked to call the Chestermere Detachment at 403 204 8777.
Although there are two ongoing shooting investigations by Calgary Police Service at this time there is no indication that the events in Chestermere and Calgary are related. Investigation is continuing in order to ascertain if there is a connection.
