CHESTERMERE – For local seniors who are concerned about how long they will be able to remain living comfortably in their own homes, or for those who might want more information for relatives in these situations, the “Creating Homes for Life” seminar will be hosted in Chestermere at the end of the month.
A prominent part of the seminar will provide information about how to renovate or customize homes to ensure easier and more comfortable living for seniors.
For anyone who feels like renovation might be the preferred choice instead of moving altogether, some information provided by Pinnacle Group, a Renovation and Custom Home Builder in Calgary, might be of note.
“Determining your families DNA is really the first step,” said Paul Klassen, owner and GM of Pinnacle Group. “We refer to a families DNA as Design-Needs-Alignment.
“This should be the driving force for a renovation or custom home build. To do it any other way ultimately leads to dissatisfaction after the fact. ”
He said that right design for your home can be achieved through an in-depth analysis of the needs of family members and what kind of changes might work the best.
“It is often the smallest nuances that make the biggest differences,” he said. “Finding a renovator that uses 3D Modelling is ideal as it truly allows you the freedom to explore different possibilities and options; you aren’t limited by the initial design, but instead will find this is just the starting point of discussion to determine the perfect spaces that will suit your family. ”
He said that determining your family’s needs may seem like a daunting task, but the first step is to analyze your current home and see if it is supporting your family unit and the unity of your family successfully, so see if it is a home worth renovating and staying in for the future.
Determining if there are special considerations your home is important, as things like wider doorways, lower riser heights on stairs, ‘0′ threshold heights, curbless showers or stairway lift rough-ins, and more could all need to be considered. Information on this on more will all be available at the seminar.
For those of you who would like more information on how to renovate or build a custom dream home without compromising their “nest egg”, the “Creating Homes For Life” seminar will be held at the Chestermere Recreation Centre from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday Feb. 25.
