Chestermere Chamber of Commerce to hold inaugural event

Wine and cheese night will offer info and membership signup

CHESTERMERE – Near the end of last year, the Chestermere Chamber of Commerce was officially established, with the first executive board meeting held on Nov. 8.

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce establishes a vital connection between business and the federal government, and impacts public policy and decision-making to the benefit of businesses, communities and families. The Chestermere Chamber of Commerce (CCC) does the same on a local level.

Robin Impey, CCC president and owner of the local M&M Meat Shops, said that the chamber will help businesses by providing exposure for local business, lobbying government, organizing workshops and networking.

In 2012, the chamber hopes to achieve a number of goals, including creating a formal membership package, developing a website, hosting several events, developing a newsletter, and beginning development of a Shop Local Campaign.

On April 13, the CCC is hosting an inaugural wine and cheese event in the hopes that representatives from local businesses and organizations will stop by and learn more about the chamber and consider becoming a member.

The CCC’s membership package letter says that benefits of being part of the CCC are varied from saving money on items such as merchant fees or health benefits, collectively promoting Chestermere businesses or learning from each other and through workshops.

“As the CCC continues grow so will the benefits and rewards for all of us”, the letter says.

Businesses will receive a 10 per cent discount on their 2012/2013 membership fees if they join before April 14.

The wine and cheese event will run from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. in the foyer at town hall in Chestermere.

Anyone interested in attending is asked to RSVP the number of attendees to info@chestermerechamber.com as soon as possible.
