Chestermere High Sports – kick off bbq and more

GOLF DIVISIONAL RESULTS
The Golf team finished 4th at the South Central Zone tournament shooting a team score of 230. Jacob Stewart led the way shooting a team low 78, Taylor Monkman was 81, Josh Antonishyn 84, and Ty Koteleinski followed with a 90.  Jacob Stewart qualified to play at provincials by finishing fifth at zones.

DOUBLE-HEADER, TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 25

We will host another double header on Tuesday at the school. The girls soccer team plays at 4:45 followed by the Cowboys at 6:30 in an exhibition game against Strathmore. Come on out and catch some great high school action.

VARSITY GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
The Senior Varsity Girls’ Volleyball team continue to win their divisional matches without a loss. They beat Cochrane
3 – 0 in front of a packed house. The next couple of matches will test their mettle, since the team will be competing against the powerhouses of the division – George Mac, Bow Valley and Springbank. Come out next Wednesday, Sept. 26, 7:00PM when the Lady Lakers will be facing the always tough George MacDougall Mustangs. On the weekend the girls will compete in the Ernest Manning Tournament.

VARSITY BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
The Varsity Boys’ lost to Cochrane in league action and participated in the Bowness Tournament this past weekend. Details next week. Coach Wood is pleased that her team is improving each week. This week they take the trek to Airdrie to take on the powerful Mustangs. On the weekend they will participate in the Ernest Manning Tournament.

COWBOYS FOOTBALL
The Cowboys hosted two league games this past week. On Tuesday the team had a solid outing in shutting out Bow Valley 21-0. The Cowboys had a great second quarter. Brent Wileman hauled in a 68 yard Brad Taubert touchdown pass to open the scoring. Shortly after that, safety Taubert intercepted a Bow Valley pass and ran it back 73 yards for the major. The Cowboys scored a two point conversion on a Myles Montpetit pass to Mike Lucysyhn. Brad Taubert scored on a three yard run after a long pass to Wileman. The defense was solid all night and this was a great team victory. In the Friday game the team made our new jerseys lucky with a sweet 19-18 come from behind victory. Brad Taubert led the way offensively with 3 touchdowns. The defense was spectacular and the offensive line dominated in the 4th quarter. It was a beautiful night for football and thanks to all of our fans.

KICKOFF BBQ/ SILENT AUCTION SEPTEMBER 20

Close to 200 people attended the 10th annual Cowboys Kickoff BBQ last Thursday. Everyone enjoyed a great meal and there were some outstanding silent auction items. The team was introduced and each player was presented with their new game jersey. This is the team’s main fund raiser for the year. Thanks to Lorie Potter and the great parent group and the Cowboys’ managers for all their work in making this event a success..


JV BOYS VOLLEYBALL
The JV Boys lost to Cochrane last week and travel to Airdrie on Wednesday to take on the always tough McDougall Mustangs. We look forward to seeing how Coach Mogck develops this team the next few weeks.

JV GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Coach Hargrove is very excited about the progress of the team. Last week they played Cochrane tough losing the match 25-17, 14-25, 25-21 and 23-25. The girls host the McDougall Mustangs on Wednesday in league action and on the weekend travel to Strathmore for the Spartans Tournament.

GIRLS’ SOCCER
The Lady Lakers’ soccer team had a great week . The home opener was fantastic as our school and in particular the football team came out to support us. Thank you. The team managed a draw against Bert Church. The team had a tough time with Cochrane. The Lakers’ goals were scored by Alicia Hall, Amy Krusina, and Anja Meier. Excellent week ladies. Next action is Tuesday at home against Springbank at 4:45.
