CHESTERMERE – The Chestermere Historical Foundation (CHF) wrapped up the year with a meeting at the North Taphouse on December 14. Here are just a few of the highlights covered in the meeting.
The Chestermere Fire Truck is slowly being restored to its original condition with the help of many volunteers. The 1952 Ford 1 Ton was Chestermere’s first fire truck; the volunteers are having some positive results with the body work and instrument wiring. It is being worked on right here in Chestermere so if you’re interested in helping out, call Vince at 403-819-4117.
The CHF is still looking for a Fresnoe Scraper so if you have one, or know of someone who does, please give Jen Peddlesden a call and let her know. Apparently this was quite the invention in the old days and it would be a great item to add to the collection.
Speaking of collections; The CHF has recently acquired have a number of artefacts dating back several years from in and around the Chestermere area from Kay and Glen Clarke. The Clarke’s are members of the CHF.
The Foundation is also hoping to establish a “Historic Chestermere Week” in the last week in July of each year. They are waiting to hear from the Town.
The major fundraiser for the CHF is selling a coffee table book entitled “Chestermere – A Home For All Seasons”. Just for the month of December the book is on sale for $40. This book is a complete history of Chestermere and the surrounding area and would make an excellent Christmas gift for your family. Get your copy today.
For more information about the CHF or to purchase a book, call Jen at 403-272-3764 or Audrey at 403-272-9280.
