Curbside Recycling in Langdon

Survey Says………..

LANGDON –The Langdon Field House held an Open House on Thursday, November 29 for the residents of Langdon where they were given a presentation of the options for curbside recycling for the hamlet. Joanne Walroth, Waste and Recycling Officer for Rocky View County, and a consultant were on hand to answer any questions and talk about the various options for the recycling program. The County’s Solid Waste and Recycling department had introduced a survey on November 5th for the residents to fill out and will continue to hold the survey open until December 10th at which time they will compile the results and present them to the Rocky View Council sometime in January or February.
“We are very excited to introduce this program as it could make recycling more convenient for residents, and divert the waste from entering the landfill.” says Walroth. “The survey will help us understand what residents want to see for future curbside collection.” Walroth added “The subsequent direction from Council will determine how we move forward with the future curbside collection in Langdon.”
Currently there is a two bag garbage limit in Langdon and residents bring their recycling to the Langdon transfer site to be transported to various recycling facilities.
The Rocky View consultant has been going to various venues to engage the community and explain the options, costs and help seniors who may not have internet access to fill out the survey. The Open House was successful as there were many questions brought forth from the residents and there were mixed reviews over the different options available.
The survey and curbside recycling information will be available at www.rockyview.ca from November 5 to December 10, 2012. There is also a FAX number available for those who wish to send in their survey entries, dial 403-277-5977.
