CHESTERMERE – There was yet another collision at the intersection of Highway 1 and Paradise Road on the west side of Chestermere. This latest incident happened on September 12 as a small car was T-boned by an eastbound pickup truck as the car was attempting to turn left from Paradise Road on to the highway. The driver of the car was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Mayor Patricia Matthews said “The Town has been in discussions with Alberta Transportation, Rocky View County and a local subdivision developer about improving safety at the intersection”. She adds “We have been in constant communication with Alberta Transportation and we know they are working on a solution; they have their priorities and I’m confident something will be done”. It is anticipated they will close the access from westbound Highway 1 on to Paradise Road and thus left turns from Paradise Road onto Highway 1 (westbound) will also be blocked to traffic.
