On April 19, 2012 during the late afternoon the Chestermere RCMP with assistance from the Calgary Police Service Drug Section and the Alberta along with the Calgary Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit arrested three suspects who were being investigated after a complaint of trafficking of MDMA (ecstasy).
The investigation began on April 15, 2012 with a complaint of a Calgary youth requiring short term hospitalization after consuming a form of ecstasy purchased from a Chestermere youth in Chestermere. The Chestermere youth was identified and after a brief investigation was arrested along with another Chestermere youth and adult. Charges are pending against two of the three suspects for possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled drug.
The assistance of the Calgary Police Service was crucial to this successful investigation and provides another positive example of police cooperation. The Chestermere RCMP, as do other police agencies, consider the trafficking of MDMA (ecstasy) as a serious problem and caution anyone from the consumption of these illegal drugs.
