Highway 1A Single Vehicle Injury Rollover Collision

On December 8, 2012 at approximately 1:30 a.m. a black 2008 Infinity QX56 SUV heading westbound on Highway 1A just west of Rainbow Road in Chestermere, Alberta entered the north ditch and rolled over landing on its roof. Inside the vehicle was a family returning to Calgary from a visit in Chestermere. There were four adult and four youth occupants in the vehicle at the time of the collision. One of the adults was seriously injured and flown by “Stars” air ambulance to a Calgary Hospital. The other seven occupants were taken by ground ambulance to a Calgary Hospital.
The extent of the injuries are not known at this time. The cause of the collision is still being investigated. A RCMP collision reconstructionist is on scene to assist with determining the cause of this collision. Highway 1A between Range Road 284 and Rainbow Road was blocked off for about three hours to allow investigators to complete their work
