On February 27, 2012 at around 12:50 p.m. there was a home invasion robbery at a Marina Drive residence in Chestermere. Chestermere RCMP members responded to the call learning a middle aged woman was alone at the time inside her residence. Two men knocked on her door asking to use the telephone stating their vehicle broke down. As a telephone was being provided the men forced the door and entered the residence. One of the men then produced a firearm and demanded money. The men used duct tape to secure the victim while they searched the residence and eventually found and stole a significant amount of money and jewelry.
The victim received minor injuries and was able to free herself to call the police and family members. As a precaution the victim was seen by EMS. The local victim services was also advised and prepared to assist. It was confirmed the suspects fled the scene although no vehicles were identified. One man was described as being East Indian as he spoke Punjabi. The second man was thought to be Caucasian. The suspects were only described as mid 20’s, one wearing a black hoodie and the other having a goatee.
A RCMP police dog service team and RCMP Forensic Identification Section member were requested and attended the scene. This serious investigation is presently ongoing.
