Kids and Youth at Country Fair

Hi all!! It’s almost time to have fun at our own Chestermere Country Fair coming on September 8th. It will be a fun day full of prize winning competitions and outdoor activities. Kids can enjoy a rabbit show, a bee workshop inside, lots of old fashioned games outside, pony rides and much more.
In the Red RIbbon Competition there are lots of categories for kids and youth. Sections include preschoolers, kindergarten, grades 1-6, open section for grades 1-3, open section for grades 4-6, open section grades 7-9 and open section 10-12. Pre-schoolers can color, paint a rock, do a duplo or lego model, do macaroni art, make sculptures from playdough or any type of flower arrangements. For kids who like gardening they can dress up any vegetable according to their imagination. In the child open section you can proudly show the largest pumpkin, sunflower head or zucchini. Creative kids can enter drawings, Lego models, sculptures, bird feeders and much more. We know that kids love to cook and help their moms in kitchen. We have categories for those little master chefs such as pancakes, chocolate chip cookies and bread. The decorators and artists can bring in jewelry designs, greeting cards and painted rocks. We hope there is something for every child or youth to enjoy at the fair. We want them to come and enjoy the fair in every aspect whether competition or through a playing/learning activity indoors or outdoors.
And if you’re thinking the fun and competition is only for kids don’t worry we have lots of fun for our youth as well. All our would be engineers can bring Lego models, K’nex models, woodworking designs and many other items. For young artists we have categories like handmade greeting cards, drawings (using pen/pencil/charcoal), paintings (any medium), photographs, jewellery designs, scrapbook pages and any sewing items. A new category (my favourite) is to prepare a nutritious and delicious lunch box, one you would like and share in your school lunch hour.
This Country Fair has something for everyone. Parents please encourage your children to prepare now and participate in as many categories as they can. Help them decide which categories to enter, help them to prepare their entries and bring them in with their entries on Friday September 7th between 11 am and 6 pm. Download the preschool and kindergarten coloring pictures from the country fair booklet at http://issuu.com/kasmcrae/docs/2012_country_fair_book/1. For any other information about how to enter or participate you can contact Chestermere Rec. Centre (403-272-7170).
So I would like to see all of you on September 8th. This fair is open to all. Let all your friends and relatives know and encourage them to come and be a part of this mega event. If you have some time to donate we still need lots of volunteers to make this successful. Please come and lend a hand or participate for our community’s success.
