Mind, Spirit and Body Expo coming up fast

CRCA will host the fourth annual event in March

CHESTERMERE – For anyone who has a passion for their individual quest of personal growth,
self-awareness and optimal health, then the fourth annual Mind, Spirt, and Body Expo will be of interest.

The event will take place on Sat. March 17 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m, and admission is free.

The idea for the original expo came from CRCA recreation program coordinator Vicki Klinger, who noticed that there was a lack of a directory for people who might be looking for wellness resources in the community.

“A lot of places are home-based as well, or are only listed in the Calgary phone book, so I thought it would be beneficial to host an expo to provide a networking opportunity,” she said. “Not only was it beneficial for the people that are involved in those services and businesses, but for members of the community who were looking for them.”

Since it had a successful first year, Klinger has made it an annual event, and said that it continues to a grow a little more each year.

Klinger said that the expo feature a wide variety of exhibitors, all who have an interest in sharing their products, services and knowledge which can potentially change someone’s quality of life. The products and services being shown at the expo are specifically targeted to be environmentally friendly, holistic, natural or organic.

Last year, fitness programs and clubs, massage services, yoga instruction, diet and weight loss, childbirth education, church groups, skin care and all kinds of other health and wellness products and services, were all part of the expo. Klinger said that there was also information about acupuncture and chiropractic services, and that a local veterinary was also at the expo to give out information about all-natural dog food.

“It’s really a wide range of exhibitors, but they all relate back to physical, mental and spiritual wellness,” she said. “This expo really connects services with people who are interested, and lets them know what’s available here, or in Langdon or Strathmore.”

This year, an Interactive Room will be added to the expo, so organizers are looking for mental health services and agencies to join in.

“We would like to display each to be an interactive one where participants can take away at least one skill that will promote their mental well being as well as provide information about local services and how they can be accessed when needed,” Klinger said.

She hopes to see local health centers, wellness groups, community service groups, public schools and other programs take advantage of the interactive room.

They also still have lots of room for exhibitors for the expo itself.

“The expo seeks to bring together individuals, businesses, services and organizations for an event that will offer the general public an opportunity to get information about the many options available for them in their communities for their individual quest of personal growth, self-awareness and optimal health,” Klinger said. “We hope to see more people involved this year.”
