On May 23, 2012 at approximately 2:40 p.m. Chestermere RCMP along with the Chestermere Fire Department and Alberta EMS attended to a motor vehicle collision which occurred along highway 1A at the intersection with Rainbow Road in Chestermere, Alberta.
A small brown Pontiac Sunfire heading eastbound on highway 1A collided with a red Dodge minivan heading westbound on highway 1A. The minivan was turning south on to Rainbow Road at the time of the collision. The 53 year old male driver from Calgary and a similar age male passenger of the small car sustained non life threatening injuries. Both were transported to a Calgary hospital for medical treatment. The 25 year old male driver of the minivan, a Chestermere resident, sustained an injured hand and was also transported for further medical treatment. The family of the Chestermere driver was aware and on scene at this collision.
The intersection was closed for a short period of time with traffic being re-routed around the collision scene. This matter is still under investigation by the Chestermere RCMP.
