Multiple daytime break and enters reported

RCMP asking public to help by reporting suspicious activity

CHESTERMERE – On March 5, 2012, the local RCMP received reports of three separate residences being broken into.

The homes were located in the Cove Close and Lakeside Greens areas of Chestermere.

Then on March 8, three homes in the Windermere and Hawkmere areas of Chestermere were also subject to break and enters.

“For the most part, jewelry was taken,” said Staff Sgt. Glenny Henry. “The break and enters all occurred during daylight hours when residents are away.

“In most cases, the suspects forced entry through rear ground level windows.”

The Chestermere RCMP are asking that residents to be vigilant in reporting suspicious activity in their neighborhoods, as well as ensuring that their residences are well secured when they are not at home.

The storing of large amounts of currency or jewelry inside residences is discouraged. The use of residential alarms systems can be helpful bearing in mind the Town of Chestermere Alarm Services Bylaw.

Anyone who has any information in these crimes or any other can contact the Chestermere RCMP at 403-204-8777 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or through the internet at www.tipsubmit.com.

Crime stoppers will pay cash rewards up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest, the recovery of stolen property or seizure of illegal drugs. Crime Stoppers does not subscribe to call display and the identity of the caller will remain anonymous.
