On Friday, May 25th, 2012, students and staff from St. Gabriel the Archangel participated in the second annual “SGA Cup”. The event, which is hosted by the school and organized/ran by the SGA Leadership team, is a way for students and staff to participate in hockey and have fun in the process.
In order for each team to be successfully registered, each player had to make a food donation to the Chestermere Food Bank. This year there were 12 registered teams with students from grades 7-12, with one of them being a teacher team.
All participants agreed that it was a really fun experience and a good way for the school to make a contribution to the food bank.
One participant, Emily Drake, said,” It was really fun. I think that the idea of making a food donation to the food bank is really good.” The team “Barbies and Ken” walked away with the team spirit award for their cool outfits and awesome school spirit.
After a solid couple hours of play, #Dusted found itself in the final against the team “Sherwood Elite”. The final game was really exciting with #Dusted claiming the coveted SGA Cup. St. Gabriel School was proud to host this event and is already looking forward to the SGA Cup next year.
