If you thought you had heard the last of this years’ Red Ribbon Competition you were wrong. Just so you know who could be your competition next year here are the Red Ribbon Trophy Winners for 2012. For the first time trophies were awarded in every section of the competition. Trophies were awarded for the most points in each category. Competition was fierce and we had a 3 point tie in the Jam, Jellies and Preserves Section and 2 point ties in the Baking and Handicrafts Sections and in the end the tie was broken by counting the number of 1st, 2nds and 3rds. The Family Grand Aggregate Trophy which is given to the family with the most points over all categories was also a tough race and was won by one of the newer competitors.
2012 Trophy Winners:
• Baking – Pamela Green
• Jams, Jellies and Preserves – Leanne Penny
• Pickles, Sauces, Eggs & Honey – Rosemary Clysdale
• Flowers – Jana Jopko
• Vegetables – Jana Jopko
• Handicrafts – Vivian Baker
• Photography – Angela Cranston
• Wine – Marie Knecht
• Beer – Brad Knecht
• Grand Aggregate – Jana Jopko

Some of the Other Winners:

  • Jane Carlyle Memorial Quilt Prize – 1 st Fiona McMillin, 2 nd Terry Lewis, 3 rd Danielle Russel
  • Craig Lawrence Memorial Lego Contest – 1st Noah Skrynyk, 2nd Cole Pearce, 3rd Ben Thompson, 4th Max Aiden & Spencer Cook
  • Child and Youth – most winning entries – 1 st Katelynne Cavanagh, 2 nd – Madelyn Smith
  • School with the Most Winning Entries – Our Lady of Wisdom Elementary

We were pleased to see that we had significantly more Art and Quilt entries for viewers to enjoy. As well there were more entries in Handicrafts, Beer and Wine, and Fruits and Vegetables. Unfortunately some of our other sections had fewer entries which we hope all of you will help rectify next year. With over $3000 in prizes, you might want to start experimenting, practicing, baking, brewing, growing, planning, painting, drawing, taking pictures, quilting, sewing, and crafting to create that winning entry for next year. Get your kids involved: we have great prizes for them too.
Thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors. With your donations we were able to award even more prizes for winning entries and we hope to do even better next year.

Also a big “Thank-You” to all of our Chestermere Country Fair Red Ribbon Volunteers! We could not manage this “performance” without each and every one of you doing your part. Your gift of time, big or small is so appreciated.
See you at the 2013 Fair.
