CHESTERMERE – Alberta Health Services are presenting a session on Parenting Anxious Children and Youth. Anyone participating will learn to recognize anxiety in children and/or adolescents, gain and understanding of different anxiety disorders and acquire a knowledge of parenting strategies to help reduce the effects of anxiety. The session is being facilitated by Lindsay Hope-Ross, M.Sc., R. Psyhc. Clinical Lead, Healthy Minds/Healthy Children Outreach Services.
Anxiety can create feelings of fear, worry, uneasiness, and dread and it is also associated with feelings of restlessness, fatigue, concentration problems, and muscle tension.
The session is FREE and of course, when you park anywhere in Chestermere, the parking is also FREE. It’s being held on March 19th, 2013 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at the Council Chambers in Chestermere Municipal Building (105 Marina Road).
Registration begins immediately but no later than March 13th. Walk-ins will be welcome of course but preregistering for the session will give the organizers a better idea of how many chairs to set up and estimate the supplies for refreshments.
There is also FREE Play & Learn childcare available right at the Parent Link Centre in the same building so the adults can enjoy the session without having to worry about hiring a babysitter for your children for the evening. If you require this service call 403-207-7060 or email vmckee@chestermere.ca or cmcintosh@chestermere.ca .
You can register for the session on line at http://fcrc.albertahealthservices.ca/ces.php or email ces@albertahealthservices.ca or phone 403-955-7420. Please keep in mind that courses with low registration will be cancelled one week prior to the session.
