Although the weather outside was frightful, inside the Chestermere Rec Centre everyone was enjoying the festivities and fun during the Community Christmas Party, held on Saturday, December 7 from 12:00-4:00p.m. Music, dancing, crafts, food, fun and a visit with Santa…what else could you ask for?
Throughout the afternoon, countless families gathered to watch local talent on stage including the Chestermere High School Band and R.O.C. Generation; thanks to the hard work of Candie Schmidt from The Lake Recording Studio, who spends numerous hours organizing the entertainment.
Volunteers from Christmas with Dignity were on hand accepting donations and the local Brownie group was offering crafts for the kids; but the real excitement began in the middle of the afternoon when Santa arrived. Children quickly lined up for their chance to sit on the jolly man’s knee and share with him their wish list, whether they were good or bad – only Santa knows.
Meanwhile, across the Rec Centre in the MPP room was the Marketplace filled with local vendors selling items perfect for presents for everyone one your Christmas list. Everything from homemade items to Usborne Books were available.
Outside, the weather may have forced the cancellation of the first annual Jingle Bell Walk and Run but some families still bundled up and enjoyed a short sleigh ride by some beautiful Belgium’s – courtesy of Paul’s Sleigh rides.
Overall, everyone enjoyed the chance to catch up with neighbours and friends and appreciated what our community has to offer. The Chestermere Community Christmas was a success, Thank you CRCA and all the volunteers for all your hard work, and Merry Christmas.
