CHESTERMERE – A fire destroyed a house in Rainbow Falls last weekend and left a family and a neighbourhood devastated. As horrible as that is it has made a neighbourhood and community even stronger than it already was. One of the neighbours of the fire victims was instrumental in starting a donation for the family and is overwhelmed by the support everyone has shown. Right after the incident Michelle Wilson got together with others from the close knit group and started planning a donation drive for the displaced family. Wilson knew the neighbours would come together to help out but she never imagined their outreach could be so powerful. She started with a Facebook page and it grew from there. The community started donating clothes, gift cards to retail stores, the whole congregation from the Lake Ridge Community Church also pitched in and made donations of every kind. Inner Focus is offering 1 free Yoga session to anyone donating to the family and makeyourbed.ca donated a bed to the family, the Whitecappers donated a quilt and Chestermere Optometry will provide new frames for the families eye glasses. Wilson is so thankful to live in such a great and generous community.
The entire house and contents were destroyed so the family is in need of absolutely everything. If you would care to donate to this needy family call Michelle at 403-809-9394.
