Library Book Sale A Huge Success

Scotiabank To Match Funds

CHESTERMERE – The Chestermere Public Library held a book sale from Feb 22nd, 23rd & 24th and to say the least, they were ecstatic about how well it was received. Over 1200 people came through the doors and purchased books that were laid out amongst the 20 tables. Book sales funds will be matched by the Chestermere Scotiabank which will go a long way to help the library. Debbi Weber, Assistant Director at the Chestermere Public Library said, “There was such a positive response to the book sale that they will have another book sale in the fall”.
There were a couple of really positive things that occurred during the book sale. One of the side benefits that occurred from the generous donations that were received for the book sale was the Library was able to replace between 200 and 300 aging books in their shelves with newer copies of the same books. The other benefit was that there were a number of people who signed up to get a Library Membership.
Weber added “We want to say thank you for all of the support we received from local businesses such as Tim Horton’s and Safeway and a special thank you to ScotiaBank for sponsoring this event and to all our volunteers, we could not have done this without them”.
The library is getting back to normal but gearing up for the Spring Reading Program which started March 2nd. MLA Bruce McAllister has generously donated a Kobo E-Reader for the grand prize. If you haven’t signed up for the Spring Reading program or to get more information on it call 403-272-9025 or go to the website at www.chestermerepubliclibrary.com
