A train themed business just out side of Mossleigh, AB is set to host the first annual Southern Alberta Music Festival on Aug 24. This all day outdoor concert will consist of a variety of country, blues, folk and good old fashioned rock n’ roll, while featuring talented local artists.
“Jason Thornhill from Aspen Crossing has been working very hard to set up this event,” says organizer/musician Larry Vannatta.
“He is a great support of Southern Alberta music, giving artist this opportunity to perform an hour showcase with a professional festival atmosphere. A professional sound man has been hired complete with full production sound, stage recording, and lights.”
While at the music festival people will be able to explore vendors, concessions and a beer garden, while listening to talented Southern Alberta performers.
“The festival will be opening at 9am with seating on a first-come-fist-serve basis. Be sure to remember your chairs if you’re getting general admission tickets. The performers will then start at 11am and continue all day until midnight,” explains Thornhill.
Over 13 bands and artists will be rocking the stage including Drew Gregory, Lyndsay Butler, Larry Vannatta, Tanya Ryan, Melinda Bailey and Tin & The Toad.
Aspen Crossing recently announced they will be donating a portion of all ticket sales to the Town of High River Disaster Relief Fund.
“After the flood Aspen Crossing was honoured to take in several amazing High River families in our RV park. Listening to all the stories of what they and others went through and are still going through really hit home for us. We’re happy to donate a portion of ticket sales to High River, it means a lot to all of us,” says Thornhill.
“So I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy a great day of live music while supporting local artists. And this year, it’s for a very special cause.”
