Do you love painting? Or maybe you like to draw. It doesn’t matter what medium you prefer or how long you have been dabbling in your craft as an artist, when you enter the Red Ribbon Competition this fall you will have a chance at a brand new trophy!
Appreciation goes out to Bhupinder Billing and his family here in Chestermere for their generous donation of this trophy. It will join ten others ( Vegetables, Flowers, Beer, Wine, Handicrafts, Baking, Jams Jellies Preserves, Pickles Sauces Eggs Honey, Photography, and the Grand Aggregate Family Trophy) which are there for the winning .
Too early you think to start thinking about your entries? No. Early notice gives you a chance to think, plan, and even take that art course you have been thinking about. Entries for the Chestermere Red Ribbon (art and all other categories) will be accepted Friday September 13th 12 noon to 6pm in the Curling Rink. Winners are chosen that night by qualified judges –you can watch from up in the curling rink lounge. Next morning, check out if you won when the display opens for the public September 14th.
The Red Ribbon Booklets are at the printers right now and will be available on May 4th at Country Connections for you to check out the various categories in the Art section. The winner of a trophy is the person with the most points in eac Section. Winners have their names engraved on the permanent trophy, but receive a special individual trophy to take home and display with pride.
