With spring just around the corner ( maybe!) the Red Ribbon Competition machine has revved up to prepare for that wonderful festival in the fall, the Chestermere Country Fair Red Ribbon Competition September 13th and 14th 2013 at the Chestermere Regional Recreation Complex!
Back by popular demand ” Charity Pie Auction,” once again in support of STARS. Last year the pies made $1940 for this worthy charity, who knows what it will be in 2013?
And ‘Preserving Our Skills” workshop has been tentatively set for Saturday June 15th with two half day events, “Making Cupcakes and a Cake Loaf” in the morning, and “Knit a Dishcloth and make a Quilted Square” in the afternoon. Want to compete with C**ve Cupcakes? Your banana loaf has holes? Here is your chance to bring your young bakers, give it a whirl and learn baking secrets! And for those who have never knitted, or quilted learning to do a dish cloth and a simple quilt square is the best way to start on these handicrafts. Families are welcome and you can register for morning, or afternoon or both! And both workshops are FREE! This is part of the Chestermere Ag Society’s program to bring traditional household skills back to today’s generation. A special bonus is that you and the kids can then enter the Chestermere Country Fair Red Ribbon and win prizes and money with your new found skills. More about some new Red Ribbon prizes in an article to come.
Clean up after the Red Ribbon on September 14th is always a challenge, so this year the Red Ribbon is offering incentives for a group to take on this responsibility. Does your group need some help? Would you be able to provide at least three adults and three youngsters to help take down of tables and signage from 4pm to 5:30pm that day? Give Carol a call at 403 272 7170 x 223 accounting@chestermerecrca.com to get details on the incentives!
