Christmas is quickly upon us and the holiday festivities are in full swing. If you are looking for a fun activity filled Christmas celebration for the whole family that includes a visit with Santa, don’t bother driving into the city because Santa will be coming to the Chestermere Community Christmas Party at the Rec Centre on December 7.
A marketplace in the MPP room will kick off the event at 10:00a.m., and will continue until 4:00p.m., which will feature over 40 booths that have all the unique gifts you are looking for to finish your shopping list this year.
Then head outside at 10:30a.m., to get registered and warmed-up for the festive Jingle Bell Rock Walk and Run. This 1 km or 5km event is hosted in partnership with Chestermere Walks and Community Services in support of Chestermere’s Christmas with Dignity campaign.
For only $5/per person of $10/family you can get on your jingle and work off all those Christmas cookies by walking of running with your friends and family around the Rec Centre Outdoor Soccer Fields. You can register or donate on-line for this event at www.legup.ca. Simply print your receipt and bring it with you for proof of registration. All proceeds from this event will be donated to Christmas with Dignity.
From noon until 4:00p.m., the real party will begin inside the Rec Centre Hall with crafts, activities and story time for the children. Entertainment will be provided on the stage by home-grown musical performances featuring local talent and MC’d by Candie Schmidt. You will even find fun in Santa’s workshop and don’t forget to enjoy the free hot chocolate and coffee before heading out for the hayrides between 1:00-2:30p.m.
