Show ‘n’Shine Car Show to Support Alberta Animal Rescue Crews and Pound Rescue Efforts During Recent Flood

The Show ‘n’Shine Car Show will be joining the festivities of the Water Festival July 27 with their annual fundraiser and car show. They will be supporting Alberta Animal Rescue Crews (AARCS) and Pound Rescue who are so diligently helping with the aftermath of the floods in Alberta.
Another charity that the Car Show supports is the school Based Food for Thought program. Last year the Chestermere Middle School received $3000 for their breakfast program. They will be on the Show’s list again this year.
The Chestermere Rec Centre will be the location for this event and all 40 acres will be filled up to capacity to accommodate the 400 vehicles and over 3000 spectators that attend the show.
It cost $10 to enter the Show ‘n Shine competition and there are over 20 trophies up for grabs. Fun events throughout the day will include the Beer Gardens hosted by the West Creek Pub as well as vendors selling their wares and concessions providing great eats! The Teamster’s Union truck will be on site with Stacy Tulp supplying the music.
All will have the opportunity to bid on a balloon ride courtesy of RE-MAX, a round of golf with a cart courtesy of the Lakesides Greens here in Chestermere, a party package for the day, courtesy of GAZ Exhibits Inc., a Golf packages from Commonwealth Centre, a cooler from Canadian Tire Store, a $50 gift card from Safeway Chestermere and many more wonderful items kindly donated by such generous individuals.
The dogs in the care of AARCS and Pound Rescue will be enjoying the day, waiting in anticipation for that kind heart to take them home.
The first car show was conceived by Mike St. Cyr in 2001 with West Creek Pub hosting the event. Since then the expansion of the show has taken it to Chestermere Rec Centre. The small amount of funds raised that first year were donated to train a puppy to be a Guide Dog.
The show has supported the Food Bank, the Rec Centre, Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre (AARC), a charity close to the heart of Springbank car collector extraordinaire Fred Phillips, the Humane Society, AARCS and Pound Rescue and other worthwhile causes over the years.
While last year’s Show was dampened for 20 minutes by a torrential downpour that saw some people scurrying home, the organizers are keeping their fingers crossed for a sunny day this July 27 as in years past.
The event as always is FREE to the general public. We say support the charities and have a great family fun day out, making sure to catch the fireworks later at Waterfest!
