Global Training Sponsors Golf Tournament

STRATHMORE – Ask a golfer and they’ll say any day is a good day to talk about golf. There is just something about the game that some days can be so rewarding and other days so frustrating. If you ask the Strathmore Regional Victim Services Society (SRVSS) about golf they too will say it’s a good day to talk about golf. Every year in June the SRVSS puts on a golf tournament at the Strathmore Golf Course and every year it’s a huge success. The Emergency Services Charity Golf Tournament (ESCGT) raises funds for the SRVSS and another local charity by registration, tournament challenges and a fantastic silent auction.
Last Thursday, February 21st, ESCGT presented Bas Owel, Vice President of Global Training, a framed certificate to recognize them as the Sponsor for the 2012 tournament. Global Training gave $2500 to ESCGT to be the tournament sponsor. Also on hand for the presentation was Kevin Reilly, a Sergeant at the Strathmore RCMP Detachment, Rob Witty with EMS in Strathmore and Lesley Hering, Program Coordinator at the Strathmore Regional Victim Services Society.
SRVSS is based out of Strathmore but provides immediate 24/7 crisis intervention to victims of crime and tragedy, via referrals from the RCMP, in the Gleichen, Chestermere and Strathmore RCMP detachment areas.
As the weather starts to warm up I suggest you also start warming up your golf swing and join in the fun at the next Emergency Services Charity Golf Tournament which will be on June 21st, 2013. You can’t register for the golf tournament just yet but certainly mark the date on your calendar.
And another Fund raising date to keep in mind for SRVSS is the “Walk A Mile In Her Shoes” event on Wednesday May 22nd in Gleichen. More information about the event will be announced a little later on.
