Maybe the results are not so obvious when looking at the faces of Dr. Jed Snatic, Dr. Griffin Myers, Dr. Derek Bouma and Dr. Zahir Damji but the efforts of this Movember team was able to raise over $3000.00 for men’s health during the month long campaign.
‘Mo sista’, Abbie Wilcox, a Dental Hygienist at the local wellness centre brought the idea of Movember into the office, challenging her ‘Mo bros’ to participate in the fun charity event that has a lasting impact on the face of men’s health.
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of millions of moustaches around the world. Through the power of the moustache, vital funds and awareness are raised to combat prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges.
The dentists all agreed it was a great idea to form a team because not only does Lifepath stand for wellness but they believe this is a great cause to support. “Men’s health has a direct link to the mouth and overall condition of the oral cavity,” says Maggie Jones, the Office Manager at Chestermere Lifepath Wellness. “We wanted to help raise awareness and funds for men’s health.”
According to the foundations website, it states that since its humble beginnings in 2003 in Melbourne, Australia, when 30 Mo Bros first grew moustaches, Movember has grown to become a truly global movement inspiring more than 4 million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to participate across 21 countries worldwide. Together these selfless Mo Bros and Mo Sistas have raised $447 million which are funding 577 projects aimed at achieving a vision of having an everlasting impact on the face men’s health.
