In the world of teaching, in most cases students come and students go and those teachers that played such an important role in that student’s future rarely get to see or hear how they grew up and who they turned into. But that isn’t always the case.
There was lots to smile about when the students from Chestermere High School made their annual visit to Little Acorns Fine Arts Preschool earlier in December. The Grade 10, 11 and 12 students have been visiting the preschool, every November for about seven years. “It’s something we look forward to every fall,” said Marilyn King, owner of the preschool, “the students were great, they brought saxophones, trumpets, drums, flutes and an electric guitar, to name just a few of the instruments. The little ones got to try out the instruments and they respond so well to the teenagers.”
In turn the High School students had a great time getting to know the youngsters and spent time playing in the classroom with them.
“This year was particularly special,” said King, “as Randy Moore, one of the first children to register in Little Acorns in 2002, came back to visit.” What a great moment for both to get the chance to reminisce on their time at Little Acorns and for the wonderful Mrs. King, to get a glimpse into the young man that her long time student has become.
Definitely something to smile about!
