What if you found a place that engages people in conversations about life, faith and God in a relaxed, friendly, and food-filled setting? Alpha is an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in such an environment.
The Alpha Program began in 1977 in England as an introduction for those interested in the Christian faith and has been tried by 24 million people in 169 countries in 112 languages.
I am facilitating the first Alpha sponsored by St Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Parish in Chestermere. I attended my first Alpha in Vancouver several years ago and saw friendships form and personal spiritual growth. Most of all, our relationship with Jesus grew.
Each session includes supper, an intriguing talk by Nicky Gumbo, and a small group discussion. No question about life or God is too simple or too hostile: Is there more to life than this? Why am I here? What came first, the chicken or the egg? Who is God? Does God heal today?, as well as many other discussion topics.
The Alpha Course will begin with a Welcome Session on Thursday, September 25 from 6:00pm until 8:30pm and continue for 10 weeks ending November 27. There is no charge to attend.
All sessions will be held at the Prince of Peace Manor Lounge: 285030 Luther Rose Blvd. Since it is important for us to know how much food to prepare we would like to know who will be coming. Please call me at 403-313-0660 or e-mail anitacat@shaw.ca. For more information please visit www.saintgabrielparish.ca/alpha.
