Don Roberts, Interim President of Chestermere Regional Community Development Foundation (“Chestermere Foundation”) today announced that its first ever Annual General Meeting will be held May 21, 2014 at 7:00 at Camp Chestermere.
Roberts said “this day has been long waited for by many of the residents from Chestermere and the surrounding area who support the concept of a Foundation to meet the social welfare, civic improvement, pleasure and/or recreational opportunities for the area.” Roberts went on to say that “there were a number of hurdles that we experienced between our concept meeting in December 2012 and actual confirmation of our registration with the Canada Revenue Agency as a registered charity. Those are behind us and we are anxious to begin the next phase of our organization.”
Mr. Roberts also thanked the individuals who have had a hand in guiding the initial process, including Isaac Achal, Patrick Bergen, Steve Grande, Stu Hutchison, Bill Quinney, Christopher Steeves and Ted Ulmer, as well as the guidance of Patty Sproule, the recently retired Director of Community Services. Roberts said “without the support of the guiding interim Board this day would not have been possible.”
The Annual General Meeting on May 21 is to elect the first official Board of Directors for the Foundation. Those individuals who have agreed to be shareholders are welcome to attend, as are persons who are interested in learning more about the Foundation.
Roberts went on to say “we are looking for a great turnout on May 21, as we elect our first ever Board of Directors and continue the journey to becoming a Foundation for the residents of Chestermere and area to help to foster growth of programs and infrastructure that our residents believe are important to our community.”
