Focus on Increased Vehicle Enforcement – Chestermere RCMP Detachment

The Chestermere RCMP Detachment is reminding the motoring public of the importance of obeying the rules of the road while operating motor vehicles. With a focus on keeping our streets and community safe, traffic enforcement has been prioritized. This includes assigning a police officer who is dedicated to traffic enforcement initiatives. To date, typical violations while operating a motor vehicle, have included speeding in school zones, distracted driving, failing to stop at stop signs, operating uninsured and unregistered vehicles, operating off-highway vehicles on a highway, operating vehicles with illegally tinted windows and improper vehicle lights.

As a result of this traffic enforcement initiative, the Chestermere RCMP have made several drug seizures, taken many impaired drivers off the road, seized vehicles operated by suspended drivers, and arrested numerous persons with warrants. Most of these warrants have been for people who committed offences outside of the Town of Chestermere.

Chestermere RCMP request that the public call 9-1-1 to report dangerous drivers or persons believed to be operating motor vehicles while impaired. Information being provided should include the make, model, colour and licence plate, the driver description and direction of travel.

If anyone has any information in relation to motor vehicle offences, or any other crime, please contact the Chestermere RCMP at (403) 204-8777 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or through the internet at www.tipsubmit.com. Crime stoppers will pay cash rewards up to $2000.00 for information that leads to an arrest, the recovery of stolen property or seizure of illegal drugs. Crime Stoppers does not subscribe to call display and the identity of the caller will remain anonymous.
