Are you 18 or older and looking to help raise money for the Chestermere High School? If so, mark you calendars for March 29th at seven o’clock. This date marks the third annual “Night Out” fundraiser that is presented by the Chestermere High Parent Council.
By attending this event, you will be able to help fundraise for the Chestermere High School in order to improve important projects for current and future students. Some areas that the funds will go to are the expansion of the current Culinary Arts program, the Fine Arts program, the enhancement of the Career and Technology Studies (CTS) programs, and the funding for the SKILLS competition.
Tickets are $20.00 each and the event will be held at the Chestermere Rec. Centre. Other than the Hot Lunch Program at the high school, this is the only major fundraiser run by the school’s parent council. The event has been a huge success over the past two years, and the planning committee wants to increase the support by having more members of the community become involved.
Every year, the parent council “Night Out” fundraiser holds a silent auction as well as different forms of entertainment in order to keep patrons interested and occupied for the night. During the first attempt of this fundraiser, the parent council brought out several comedians to keep guests laughing, and last year they invited a Hypnotist by the name of Jesse Lewis who was very entertaining.
This year, the parent council has something different in mind. Red Dawn, a live band that will be headlining at the event, features members who are from Chestermere, including School Council Chairperson Sue Wood’s husband.
The Chestermere High School’s band, drumline, and musical theatre will start off the evening. Their first semester was extremely successful in terms of performances; the drumline was featured at the Cenovus Brilliance Ball, and most recently at the Rozsa Centre for the Canadian New Music Network. The members of Musical Theatre have been hard at work since the beginning of the year to prepare for their official performance dates in April. Guests will also be extremely entertained with a preview of this hard work by seeing a few scenes from their play, “Beauty and The Beast.”
The reasoning behind the event being 18+ is because there will be a cash bar. At this current time, Wood is working on securing a ride home service for a small fee. Attendees are encouraged to come and have a fun “Night Out” but the council is also making sure that they take precautions in order to look out for the well beings of the guests, as well as their safety.
As this event is still over a week away, members of the public still have time to donate. If any businesses or individuals have items that they can donate for the silent auction, it would be greatly appreciated by the parent council. Cash donations are also highly appreciated as well, and can be made payable to “Friends of CHS”. However, if you’d like to just purchase a ticket to enjoy the event that is also a great offer and the parent council will be happy to see you there.
If you have any questions about how you can donate or other details about this event, please feel free to contact Sue Wood at (403) 936-7857.
