The leader of the Alberta Party, Greg Clark, paid a visit to Ms. Storey’s Social 30-1 class on October 30th. He shared with students the importance of a democratic government, his ideas for Alberta’s future, and his story about how he became involved in politics. This engaging and informative session enlightened students on what real life politics is like. In the recent by-election, the Alberta Party had surprisingly positive results that have drawn a lot of attention to this new party and its ideas. After his presentation, Mr. Clark opened it up to student questions.
Halloween was a huge success at Chestermere High! Students created the first ever “Spooky Link”. Student Council members decorated the legendary hallway connecting both the North and South halves of the school into a spooky and scary Halloween haven. Students and staff gave extremely positives responses to this creative new spirit idea and can expect more themed links to come. As always, a Halloween costume contest was held and this year’s winner was Jake Giroux as Pyramid Head from the movie Silent Hill. Staff also took part in the fun and Mr. Autet took first place staff prize.
This holiday season, Chestermere High will collect on behalf of the Chestermere Food Bank. Students are encouraged to bring in non-perishable food items to donate for this great cause! As added motivation, students will have the opportunity to win a free CHS hoodie! For every food bank item donated, students will receive ballots that will be entered into a draw for the hoodie. Grade 12 students are encouraged to bring in more food bank donations and save on Winter Formal. This year, if students bring in 2-3 food bank items they will receive two tickets for $15. The regular price is $10 a ticket.
Winter Formal planning is in full swing! On December 4th the theme will be Red Carpet! Grads will bring out their inner Hollywood glamour for night of dancing and memories. Grade 12 students are anxiously awaiting this annual event.
