Local riders from Sweet Talk Stables started off the Year of the Horse and the show jumping season with an unprecedented showing. Fourteen riders, our biggest contingent ever, competed at the Classic 1, hosted by Spruce Meadows this past weekend.
Competing were Taylor Bates, Brianna Beck, Mikayla Brabant, Ann Conroy, Desiree Draicchio, Nicole Dyck, Hope Enders, Karissa Enders, Shaelynn Enders, Kristin Gretener, Hayleigh Hollingsworth, Taylor Lamphee, Jessica McMorran and Charlotte Reeve.
As always the Sweettalkers stepped up and made us all proud. Highlights included taking home Championship Coolers in 3 divisions, .70m by Brianna Beck, .80m by Kristin Gretener and the 1.0m by Mikayla Brabant. In the .70m Sweettalkers took the top 5 placing, Brianna Beck in first, Jessica McMorran in second, Kristin Gretener in third, Hayleigh Hollingsworth in fourth and Karissa Enders in fifth. In addition all our riders placed in their divisions bringing home a multitude of ribbons.
Big thanks to coaches Joyce Enders, Hope Enders and Laureen McMillan for getting our girls this far.
These girls train year round to be able to compete at this level and all aspects of horsemanship are included, from grooming to mucking, catching your horse when it is 20 below out and keeping a smile on your face throughout. As well with show season in full swing now, most weekends are spent trailering to and from events.
Sweet Talk riders hope to compete throughout Alberta this year attending shows in Edmonton as well as BC and perhaps so far as Montana.
One of our goals for the year is to qualify as many girls as we can to compete at the inaugral Royal West being hosted at the new Agrium Western Event Center at Stampede Park this October. The Royal West is modelled after the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto and will be a multi day, multi breed horse show with competition in both Western and English disciplines.
Join us for some great entertainment at any of our shows and for more information on riding, english and western, come to our website at www.sweettalkstables.com.
