Thefts from parked motor vehicles has been an ongoing problem in many communities and the Town of Chestermere is no exception. It is very difficult to solve these criminal offences without the assistance of the public both in detecting suspicious activity in their respective neighborhoods and reporting these activities to the Chestermere RCMP. Prevention strategies such as locking parked vehicles, not storing items of value inside their vehicles and keeping such items out of sight is also very helpful to deter these thefts.
At around 1:30 a.m. on April 11, 2014 Chestermere RCMP received a complaint from an alert citizen in the West Creek area of Chestermere of suspicious persons. Chestermere RCMP responded and located three young adult males in the area arresting and charging them for bylaw offences. A subsequent investigation reveals these male adults ranging from 19 to 22 years of age from Calgary were likely responsible for thefts from vehicles in West Creek. Theft charges are pending against one of the adult males.
