It’s that time of year again, snow is falling, temperatures are dropping and it gives everyone more reason to stay inside. Instead, how about this year you just pop down to winterfest and enjoy the ice and snow for a change!
Winterfest will start at 8:30 am, January 19th. I bet you’re thinking “What! I never wake up that early.” Well, me neither. But at the rec center there will be a pancake breakfast starting at 8:30 am and ending at 11:00 am, followed by some great, fun, super awesome activities!
The Kids and K9 dash is at 11:15 am. This event will be followed by Daddy Dash at 11:45 am, and the Arctic Village at anniversary park will be open from 11:00 to 3:00.
And yes, the Polar Dip will be happening this year and YELL is still looking for recruits. If you are interested you can go to the Chestermere website and all the contact info is there. Are you willing to take a cold drop to make bullying stop?
For kids activities, there are Slap Shot, Super Slide and Toddler Zone. Also, the kids can make Lanterns for the Lantern Walk in the evening!. There will also be a balloon artist and face painting! The children’s lantern walk starts at the main entrance of Rec Center and will end at Anniversary Park. There are lot’s of fun activities for the kids!
Oh, but don’t worry! We didn’t forget about, you, adults.
In the rec centre at the red rink there will be a Hockey Game Fire Department vs The Wannabees.
Admission is a donation to the Chestermere Food Bank and there will also be a raffle and prizes.
It will be cold so it might be a good idea to pop down to anniversary park where there will be a bonfire and hot chocolate and the main event the fireworks! All dependent on the weather, but if all is clear we will have a celebration of colour in the sky.
Waking up at 8:30 might not seem so bad anymore.
