They say when women get together, miracles can happen. Last winter, the first ever women’s conference was held in Chestermere and it was nothing short of amazing. Terrific speakers, uplifting conversations and above all, fun. With rave reviews from those that attended and an organizing committee eager to do it again, the planning commenced.
The Second Annual Chestermere and Area Women’s conference will be on February 6, 2016. This conference is for women of all ages and backgrounds. “Shared Wisdom” was the theme of the conference in 2015 and there was lots of great feedback from many of the women who attended. “We chatted, laughed, learned new skills and made connections with other women in the area. The Municipal Building was buzzing with enthusiastic conversation among the sea of smiling faces. The feeling of hope, unity and optimism was palpable”, said Cathy Burness.
The theme this year is “Be Ready”. Our circumstances can change dramatically over the years. Sometimes we have large hurdles or detours, but even small changes can sometimes seem unsurmountable. Some adjustments are easier than others, but we can learn to be resilient. The sessions have been chosen with that in mind. Workshops will be a place to learn techniques and skills that can help you deal with life through knowledge, humor and patience. Yoga, (be bendy), vision boards (what do you want in your life?),” and “5 Love Languages” are just a few of the workshops on offer.
Burness continued, “We put a lot of thought into what traits we were looking for in a great Keynote Speaker. We wanted an engaging speaker, who has been through some of these life changes and has come out on top. We needed someone who spoke from her heart and had experienced first – hand, the kinds of challenges facing women today. We were thrilled when Leela Sharon Aheer agreed to be our Keynote Speaker this year. Leela inspires me to try harder, do more and be better. Leela comes to the conference as a woman, a mother, a wife, and a member of our community”.
With many amazing workshops to choose from and the uplifting nature of this event, you will want to get your tickets before it sells out. This year’s conference will be at Camp Chestermere.
