On Saturday April 4th, Chestermere residents old and young came out to participate in the 5th Annual Easter Egg Hunt hosted by Lakeside Greens Golf Course and The Point. The City of Chestermere’s Human Services Advisory Board (HSAB), which oversees distribution of United Way funding to projects, programs and services in the community and is hosting the Easter Egg Hunt. The United Way/Chestermere Partnership aims to build capacity in the areas of health and wellness, intergenerational connections and multi-cultural inclusiveness.
Last year, the partnership provided funding to the Friends of Chestermere East Lake School Society, Chestermere Whitecappers Association, Accredited Supports to the Community, Camp Chestermere, Lake Ridge Community Church/Mighty Neighbourly, Synergy and the City of Chestermere’s Formative 5 Coalition.
Despite the blustery weather, it was reported that approximately 450 children had been registered for the Easter egg hunts that took place at three varying time slots to help keep things organized.
For a minimum $5 donation, children were provided a colorful Easter basket and were sent off to decorate a basket tag before heading out into the golf course to collect colourful plastic eggs. Once they had gathered their 10 eggs, children headed to the exchange table where they turned in their plastic eggs in trade for yummy chocolate treats and other surprises.
Sponsors for the event were: Rainbow Falls Dental, ATCO Gas, Rebecca Tomasir, No Frills, Chestermere Anchor City News, CUI, The General Store, Authentic Orthodontics, Tim Hortons, Rocking Guest Ranch, Sunridge Mall, per-snic-kid-y, RBC, Lightbox Entertainment, Lifepath, Leela Sharon Aheer, Barefoot Books, Fortis Alberta, Safeway, Macaroni Kid, Boston Pizza and Shoppers Drugmart.
There were also many volunteers on hand from the Chestermere Girl Guides, Synergy and Mighty Neighbourly just to name a few and the Easter Bunny himself was there to visit with the children and pose for some photos.
What an amazing sight to see as our great community came together to celebrate and support a vital partnership that gives back so much to the community.
