5th Annual Easter Egg Hunt set for April 4

The Easter Bunny will be donning his yellow vest and hopping his way back to Chestermere at the 5th Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4.
The family-friendly community event will be held at Lakeside Golf Club, 555 Lakeside Greens Dr., and will offer three hunt times this year: 9:30, 10:30 or 11:30 a.m.
For a minimum $5 donation, each child will grab an Easter basket (or BYOB – bring your own basket in consideration of the environment), decorate a basket tag, collect colourful plastic eggs and then ‘eggschange’ them for a chocolate bunny and other surprises.
The annual event, held in support of the United Way/Chestermere Partnership, promises to be a lot of fun.
“Chestermere has lots of little egg hunters and we strongly encourage you to bring yours out to this great community event. It’s so fun watch the excitement when an egg is found,” Mayor Patricia Matthews said.
Each year, dozens of businesses and volunteers pitch in to make the event a possibility.
So far, this year’s sponsors include: The Point Restaurant, Lakeside Golf Club, The Chestermere Anchor City News, Eric’s No Frills, Rocking R Guest Ranch, Boston Pizza Chestermere, Authentic Orthodontics, Tim Hortons, ATCO and FortisAlberta.
This year, the Girl Guides of Canada and Synergy will be among the volunteers.
The City of Chestermere’s Human Services Advisory Board (HSAB), which oversees distribution of United Way funding to projects, programs and services in the community and is hosting the Easter Egg Hunt, would also like to thank the many volunteers who help with the event.
The United Way/Chestermere Partnership aims to build capacity in the areas of health and wellness, intergenerational connections and multi-cultural inclusiveness.
Last year, the partnership provided funding to the Friends of Chestermere East Lake School Society, Chestermere Whitecappers Association, Accredited Supports to the Community, Camp Chestermere, Lake Ridge Community Church/Mighty Neighbourly, Synergy and the City of Chestermere’s Formative 5 Coalition.
To register for the Easter Egg Hunt, email your child’s full name, age and desired hunt time (9:30, 10:30 or 11:30 a.m.), as well as the name of the parent/chaperone, by noon Tuesday, March 31, to: unitedway@chestermere.ca.
