One of last years most talked about events, was the inaugural Rotary’s Amazing Race. Teams raced around Chestermere, participating in tasks all in the hopes of being first to cross the finish line. Well Chestermere…back by popular demand….the 2015 Rotary Amazing Race is happening!
The Rotary Club of Chestermere is hosting its second annual Amazing Race on Saturday September 19th and is inviting all local businesses and groups within Chestermere to participate by becoming a challenge host, major sponsor and/or prize donor.
This amazing event proved to be lots of fun for all participants and hosts last year and raised over $5000 for community projects as well as bringing an awareness as to what amenities are available in our fast growing city.
Last year’s event had such challenges as doing a paddle board coarse on the lake, eating hot wings, recreating a piece of art and many many more.
The winning team last year were ‘The Crusades’, consisting of Patrick Watson, Mike Doucette, Owen Wourms and Perry Keller. Will they be back this year to reclaim their title? Are you up for the challenge of stealing the title from them? This is how it works:
Teams of four will embark on a series of mental and physical challenges throughout Chestermere all in hopes to be the first team to cross the finish line. To participate, each team will be responsible to raise a minimum of $250 in sponsorship to be eligible to compete in the race. To register your team, visit www.rotaryrace.legup.ca the site enables you to share your team’s link and get online donations to reach your qualifying $250. It’s also a way that teams can see who their competition is and how their fundraising efforts are going. Register your team today and start fundraising!
On race day, info session is at 8:30am with the race beginning at 9am sharp and an awards ceremony with lunch from noon – 1pm. The grand prize is $1000 to the winning team, with second place receiving $500 and third place receiving $250.
