Around 7am on Thursday April 16th, Strathmore RCMP were called to the Botsford Delicatessen in Langdon, about 20 kilometers east of Chestermere. A customer arrived at the bakery to find the victim and called 911. RCMP say the victim, a woman in her 50’s, was attacked around 6:30 a.m.
Initial reports by other media sources stated that the victim had been stabbed, but RCMP would not confirm that a stabbing had occurred, only that the victim had been seriously assaulted. It was later released that the victim is Jocelyn Muschett and works as a baker at the Botsford Delicatessen. At this time it is unknown what the relationship, if any, the victim and her attacker had.
Calgary EMS spokesman Adam Loria said the woman was transported to a Calgary hospital in stable condition, but had some serious traumatic injuries.
Upon initially reporting the incident, RCMP were looking for a suspect and a blue 2000 Chevrolet Tracker without a licence plate. However, later that same day, police arrested 38-year-old Patrick Geddes from Langdon and charged him with attempted murder, aggravated sexual assault and forcible confinement. Investigators are still looking for the vehicle, which is also missing its rear bumper.
Residents of Langdon took to social media where they have been posting well wishes and messages of concern for the fellow resident. Mushett is expected to make a full recovery.
