At around 6am on Friday July 31, 2015, Chestermere Fire Services was called out to Mary Brown’s Chicken located in the area of 100 Marina Drive. As this was a structure fire, two trucks from Chestermere were dispatched and also a truck from Langdon.
Upon arriving at the scene, the fire was quickly contained to the kitchen area of the restaurant and one Chestermere truck and the crew from Langdon were sent back to their stations. The crew on scene were able to confirm that the fire had started in the kitchen area, although the exact cause has not yet been determined.
As this fire happened while the restaurant was closed, no one was injured in the blaze. Mary Browns Chicken sustained serious damage, but thanks to the quick response of Chestermere Fire Services, the fire did not spread to surrounding businesses or other buildings in the complex. The vacant retail space next door to Mary Browns did sustain some minor water damage. Mary Browns owner has stated that they are closed and it is unknown at this time when the business will reopen.
