What do we do?
• Locally elected, we are dedicated to the success of more than 52,000 students that attend 105 schools in the Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD).
• We represent and serve citizens by governing the CCSD. We set priorities and monitor performance to guide administration in district operations.
• Advocacy is a major focus for us. We work closely with the Minister of Education, MLAs and key stakeholders to lobby for high quality education and to ensure that funding and grants are in place to prioritize student learning.
• We are actively involved with provincial associations, including the Alberta School Boards Association and Alberta Catholic School Trustees, as well as many other groups and committees to support student and district initiatives.
When and where do you meet?
• Regular board meetings are open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend. Meetings are held on the 3rd floor of the Catholic School Centre: 1000 – 5th Avenue, SW. The next meetings will be:
• September 9, 2015 at 4:30 p.m.
• September 23, 2015 at 4:30 p.m.
• Parent and Trustee Forums are also held throughout the year. These forums provide an opportunity for engagement in discussions and input on topics ranging from report cards to student success and resiliency. Information gained at these forums helps inform decision-making throughout the year.
Who are the trustees?
• Calgary Catholic has seven trustees that work together for the whole district, with each representing wards in Calgary and the surrounding area. Cheryl Low is currently serving as board chair and Margaret Belcourt is our vice-chair. We are passionate about actively engaging with the community and understanding what impacts you.
