The United Way (UW) and Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) in partnership with the Town of Chestermere, helps to support local community initiatives by investing in programs that address the most pressing issues within the town.

Funds raised through the UW Calgary and area annual campaign as well as FCSS were doled out on Monday, May 4th at City Hall to six local groups who met the funding guidelines and criteria.

Each year, the volunteer committee (Human Services Advisory Board) that represent the partnerships accept applications from local not-for-profit groups and then following funding guidelines, they carefully determine which organizations are best suited to receive funding.

The six recipients of the 2015 grants were Accredited Supports to the Community; Community Resource Centre; Formative 5 Coalition; Chestermere Therapy Dog Society; Chestermere Whitecappers Association Seniors Quilters Club; Peer Support Services for Abused Women (not available for cheque presentation.

On behalf of FSCC, the Human Services Advisory Board is currently accepting applications for groups in need of Special Project Funding. For more information and a complete list of criteria, please call Cindy Kavanaugh at 403-207-7062. Deadline for applications is May 29, 2015.
