Not so long ago, every Friday afternoon from June to August, a Farmers Market would pop up in the Chestermere Recreation Centre parking lot where residents could purchase fresh fruit, veggies and other treats. Then, it just disappeared, never to be seen again. Until now.
Chestermere resident, Lori Rasmussen decided to take matter into her own hands and bring back this popular attraction. “The community of Chestermere were asking if there is a market here, or I wish there was…So I said to myself I can put a Farmers market together to Chestermere and area. It was a lot of work but I put the first market on July 2nd together in six days running around with my head cut off. Getting permits and vendors. Special thank you to Vicki and Todd at the rec centre for all their help”, said Rasmussen.
The market will run in the parking lot at the Chestermere Regional Recreation Centre every Thursday from 4pm to 7pm rain or shine. Rasmussen continues, “Hoping to run the market until Oct 14th if the weather will hold out. Chestermere you wanted it, I did it. Hope to see you all Thursdays. A lot of great shopping”.
Some of the vendors at the July 2nd opening day were Jk Apparel, Scentsy, homemade dog cookies, bayberries, cupcakes, Jamberry, Fresh flowers, Arbonne, south hills freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh veggies and fruit, honey, Norwex, coffees, Stella and Dot, food truck, ice cream truck, big blue moma, fresh breads/jam and pies, Home baked goods by Kylee and Lori reported Rasmussen.
Vendors pay $35 for drop in or $120 a month. Lori is always looking for more vendors. If you are interested in being a vendor, please contact Lori at lakers19@efirehose.net
