On Saturday May 30th, the Chestermere Regional Recreation Centre hosted the first annual Multicultural Play Day. Chestermere Plays is a partnership of organizations in Chestermere dedicated to getting families to play more. They organized a variety of Play Day opportunities in the past couple of years all with the hopes that families would unplug and spend time together and as neighbours.
This year, they organized a Multicultural Play Day to “Celebrate Chestermere’s Cultural Diversity Through Play”. There was a picnic lunch with entertainment from Magician Randy Burtis, activities and crafts and the afternoon finished up with an East Indiana HOLI event.
Some of the community partners that were on hand to help with this first of its kind event in Chestermere were: CIBC, Parent Link, Formative 5, Stepping Stones, Chestermere Public Library, Primary Care Network, ATB Financial, Little Acorns Preschool, Chestermere Therapy Dogs Society and more. It’s these community partnerships that make these events such a success and enable the community to come together.
