Langdon is a vibrant, growing hamlet rich with residents who care about their neighbours and the community as a whole. Langdon Legacies is a community engagement project inspired by the people who call Langdon home.
The goal of the project is to increase awareness about existing positive initiatives while creating new opportunities for like-minded individuals to connect thereby becoming more engaged and feeling a greater sense of belonging and pride in their community. That sense of inclusiveness will spur us on to build a legacy we are proud to leave for the next generation.
Langdon Legacies ask locals to reflect on what their particular and perhaps unique role is in the collective strength of their community, ultimately probing them to determine how they would like to preserve Langdon’s unique sense of community mindedness for the betterment of generations to come.
In 1963 the Langdon Community Association presented the community with a Memorial site that houses a time capsule complete with name plates. Over fifty incredible years later, Langdon Legacies is pleased to support another Time Capsule project as well as three exciting community art projects.
Four special ‘projects within a project’ have been planned; the Time Capsule, a Wishing Well, Peace Poles and Re-Purposed Horse Shoe Art. These finished pieces of memorabilia will be installed in the heart of the Community Garden (Langdon Parks North field) during the summer of 2016.
Each project will be governed artistically by local individuals, families, organizations, community groups, businesses, schools and teams. Langdon Legacies warmly welcomes any interested parties to approach us about getting involved – after all, you are the heartbeat behind what makes this Hamlet so extraordinary!
Please contact us if you have time, talent, or treasure you would like to offer in support of the Langdon Legacies project. Join fellow residents, local artists, businesses and organizations in making Langdon Legacies a success. involved@truesynergy.ca | 403-207-7048
